To provide Safety Representatives with the knowledge, skills and confidence to
effectively represent employees on safety, health and welfare matters in the
workplace.
– Introduction to Health & Safety and accident prevention
– Irish Health & Safety legal framework
– Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
– Employer and employee duties
– Role, powers and limitations of the Safety Representative
– Consultation and communication on safety matters
– Workplace inspections and hazard identification
– Accident and dangerous occurrence investigation
– Working with management and HSA inspectors
On completion, participants will be able to understand their legal role, identify
workplace hazards, carry out inspections, participate in accident investigations
and communicate effectively with employers and employees on safety issues.
